Enrichment Programs

Project LINK's summer enrichment programs were implemented to provide children with supervised, safe, and learning enrichment activities during non-school hours.

Research shows that children who lack access to enriching activities typically lose learning over the summer months and face a number of behavioral risks.

Our summer enrichment programs were designed to help students engage with literacy material and activities, so they may carry what they learned over the summer into the new school year.

Off & Running Academic Camp

The “Off & Running” Academic Enrichment Camp is a nine-week, skill-building course designed for students entering kindergarten through eighth grade.

The camp consists of small class sizes that provide a wonderful opportunity to reinforce and enhance reading, writing, math, and science skills.

Participants days are spent in an encouraging environment where students participate in a variety of daily activities to improve academic and social skills, problem-solving and self-management skills in small groups and in individualized instruction.

The afternoons consist of sports, swimming, fitness, and other camp activities to provide students with a refreshing break from studies.

Program activities include prevention methods for cyber surfing; child abduction prevention; traffic and vehicle; playground, bike, fire, and water safety for the children and their parents.

Project LINK’s “Safety First” program is a component of the HOST program titled “Out-of-School Time”. The program takes place during summer school hours; from June to August. ‘Safety First’ also include children activities Monday – Thursday for students at selected host sites from grade levels k through 5; covering selected topics mentioned above.

Project LINK team members develop curriculums for the safety prevention program while creating a positive environment from arts & crafts perspective, focusing on preventive safety methods. Students participate in various activities and art illustrations on a weekly basis.

The final week of the program includes our character counts segment, which consists of self-portraits, self-reflections, and/or drawings from children opinions, knowledge and perspective of safety.

Arts & Leadership Program

Draw My Teacher

Project LINK selects four elementary schools to partner in this program. The program runs over a course of six-month.

Hillsborough county certified art teachers challenge their students to compete in a drawing contest to create an illustration of the art teacher.

The contest is held in three phases based on grade level: 1st Phase - third grade, 2nd phase - fourth grade, 3rd phase - fifth grade.

Students that participate in this school event are honored with a festival-like celebration at the end of the project, while student winners are awarded a custom plaque, cash rewards, and their winning picture framed for school display, which is all sponsored by a corporate partner.

Winners of the program will have the opportunity to receive a summer scholarship in Project LINK's arts & crafts summer camp.
